Care routine for your face

Care routine for your face

A daily routine for your face is one of the most important foundations for keeping your skin soft and rosy. But what does a facial care routine actually look like? Which cleansing products and skin care products do you really need and in what order do you use them?

Develop routines and support the skin during regeneration

Your skin is exposed to many different influences every day. UV radiation, make-up and also germs and bacteria lead to irritation, redness or blemished skin. Small blackheads and other skin impurities can form, sebum clogs the pores and the complexion deteriorates. With a daily facial care routine, you can free your skin from these stresses, help it to regenerate and also reduce skin ageing. The following care steps will help you to develop a skincare routine.

#1 Remove make-up (evening)

Even if it is sometimes exhausting - make-up removal is a must, every day. By removing make-up, you unclog your pores. At the same time, invisible dirt is removed from your skin. When removing make-up, for example, you also remove dirt from the air, which can cause skin problems.

So be sure to include make-up removal in your skincare routine. Incidentally, this is completely independent of your skin type. You should always remove make-up, and not just if you have blemished skin.

#2 Cleansing your facial skin (morning and evening)

Every morning begins and every day ends with cleansing your facial skin. Use a cleansing gel or lotion to remove any remaining dirt from your skin. Use a soft cloth or your hands to cleanse your face. Apply the gel or lotion to damp skin and make circular and light massaging movements. This will also stimulate the blood circulation in your skin. This makes your skin look rosy and healthy and your skin radiant.

#3 Use a light peeling (twice a week)

Even if exfoliation is not part of your daily facial care routine, it should be included in your routine. Choose one or two days a week on which you exfoliate in the evening after cleansing. This exfoliation removes dead skin cells and flakes and dissolves sebum. If you tend to have very blemished skin, it has a clarifying effect on your complexion and can reduce blemishes.

But even if your skin looks smooth and healthy, it is an important part of your facial care routine.

#4 Use clarifying toner (morning and evening)

Toner has a clarifying effect and ensures that your skin can absorb care products better afterwards. Take a cotton pad, apply toner or toner to it and dab your skin. This step in the skin care routine is also recommended in the morning and evening. You may need to experiment a little with the right toner. The cleansing products have different compositions. If your skin tends to react strongly to certain ingredients, a clarifying toner that contains as few substances as possible is the better choice.

#5 Special care for rich care (morning and evening)

Special care is recommended to prevent skin ageing, supply your skin with nutrients and also to treat blackheads and spots. These are usually serums.

A serum contains active ingredients in a highly compressed form and therefore has a high level of effectiveness. It also penetrates deep into the skin and improves the skin's appearance in the long term.

After using toner, it is time for the highly concentrated serum in your facial care routine. It can be applied in the morning and evening. Pay attention to the recommendations on the packaging. Some active ingredients are contained in such high doses that you should only use the serum once a day.

Spread the serum in the palms of your hands and then gently massage it into your facial skin.

#6 Care around the eyes (morning and evening)

The skin around the eyes is very sensitive and it is therefore a good idea to pay special attention to this area in your skincare routine with an eye cream. There are special eye creams that contain many active ingredients to combat wrinkles and dry skin.

The eye cream is best applied with your fingers in the morning and evening. Take a little of the cream on your finger and lightly dab in the nourishing cream. Make sure that it does not get into your eyes.

Are you prone to dark circles? In this case, it is good if the eye cream has a cooling effect. This has a decongestant effect.

#7 Apply day cream or night cream

One of the next care steps is to provide your skin with additional nutrients. A day cream or night cream is suitable for facial care . As the cream should be applied in the evening as well as in the morning, both products are helpful.

Apply the cream to your face and neck, avoiding the eyes. Depending on your skin type, you should also look carefully at which facial care is suitable for you. Combination skin has different requirements to dry or oily skin. If you suffer from redness and inflammation, you need a product with ingredients that soothe your skin.

It is generally a good idea to look for a moisturizing product. As we age, the body produces less collagen and hyaluronic acid. As a result, your skin can no longer store as much moisture. A rich moisturizer is recommended.

By the way: In winter, it is a good idea to use an oily facial care product. Water on the skin at low temperatures can damage the skin even further.

#8 Sunscreen is a must (in the morning)

Before you start your day, you should definitely apply sun cream as part of your skincare routine. This does not depend on the season. Harmful UV radiation is active even when there is no sun or the sun has no warming effect.

You should therefore not go a day without sun protection. It is recommended that this is as close to 50 as possible. Allow the sunscreen to absorb briefly. You can then start applying your make-up.

Tip: Sun protection for the face is also available as a fluid. The texture is much lighter. The cream does not settle in wrinkles and does not leave an oily sheen.

The importance of antioxidants for your skin

When searching for the right skin care products, you will often read that the products contain antioxidants. But what are they actually? They are particularly popular when it comes to skincare. In fact, your skin will never get enough of them. So it's all the better if they become an important part of your skincare routine.

In order to better understand why you should not do without antioxidants, you will find an overview of the most important properties below:

  1. Protection against negative environmental influences

Environmental pollution also affects your skin. It causes wrinkles to form more quickly, your complexion loses its radiance and your skin looks saggy. This is where antioxidants come into play. Some of them are perfect for combating the effects of pollution on your skin. Look for products that contain ubiquinol or glutathione.

  1. Firming your skin

Antioxidants give your skin strength. If they are part of your daily skincare routine, your skin will become increasingly firm. They build up the skin barrier and help the skin cells to regenerate. It is ideal if the care products also contain retinol. Together with antioxidants, your skin is strengthened. Products containing linseed oil or almond oil are well suited.

  1. Soothing effect on your skin

Is your skin very sensitive and reacts quickly to changes, with redness, dry patches or even blemishes? Antioxidants can also be a great help here. Some of them have a very soothing effect, such as beta-glucan or active ingredients from green tea.

  1. New radiance for your skin

Does your complexion not look fresh? Does it have more of a sallow color? Some antioxidants are able to change that. We are talking about vitamin C. Ascorbic acid is also known as tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate. So if you are looking for a product with ascorbic acid, this may also be on the list of ingredients.

  1. Effective against wrinkles

There are repeated studies on how to combat wrinkles. Antioxidants also play an important role here. Various studies have shown that a combination of different antioxidants can do something to combat wrinkles. The more antioxidants you include in your skincare routine, the better.

Tip: You can find high doses of antioxidants in serums. Many serums are enriched with antioxidants. This allows the active ingredients to pass directly into your skin.

A skincare routine for your face is highly recommended

Use a cream every now and then? Exfoliate every few weeks? Of course, this is better than doing nothing at all for your skin. However, it's even better if you develop a comprehensive skincare routine and carry out the same facial care steps every day.

When choosing the right products for your routine, it depends on whether you have dry, oily or combination skin. Very blemished skin requires different care than skin without blackheads and spots. After just a few days, you will have become accustomed to the routine and will naturally reach for the products and do something good for your skin.
